The genesis of Kishkinda University traces its roots back to the time when Late Smt Basavarajeshwari Jahagirdar, a three-time Member of Parliament from Bellary, was appointed as the Minister of State for Women and Child Development of India.

The foundation of the T.E.H.R.D. trust was the first pillar that paved the way for imparting quality education across all sections of society. The TEHRD Trust® is dedicated to providing quality education to more than 11,000 students in Bellary, Karnataka.

Kishkinda University is a state-private university established in the Karnataka state, with TEHRD Trust® as the sponsoring body under Karnataka State Act No. 20 of 2023 and recognised by UGC, New Delhi.

Tungabhadra Education Health & Rural Development Trust (TEHRD), also known as Tungabhadra Education Health & Rural Development Trust(R), serves as the foundational pillar for the establishment and operation of Kishkinda University.
