The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering places strong emphasis on innovation, scientific inquiry, and technological advancement through its dedicated Research and Development (R&D) initiatives. The department actively promotes a vibrant research ecosystem by encouraging faculty members, research scholars, and students to engage in high-quality interdisciplinary research across emerging areas of electronics, communication, embedded systems, signal processing, VLSI design, wireless communication, IoT, artificial intelligence, and allied domains.

The department is committed to nurturing a strong research culture that contributes to academic excellence, industrial innovation, and societal development. Research scholars are admitted every year to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in accordance with the regulations and guidelines prescribed by the university. The department continuously strives to create an environment conducive to advanced learning, innovation, and collaborative research.

Objectives of Research and Development Activities:

  • To create awareness and provide opportunities for research and development among faculty members, technical staff, and students.
  • To encourage faculty and researchers to undertake innovative and socially relevant research projects in emerging technologies.
  • To support faculty members and research scholars in preparing and submitting research proposals to funding agencies such as VGST, DRDO, DST, AICTE, UGC, ISRO, and various industry organizations.
  • To motivate researchers to publish high-quality research papers in reputed national and international journals, conferences, and technical magazines.
  • To promote interdisciplinary and industry-oriented research activities through collaborations and consultancy initiatives.
  • To foster a research culture based on academic freedom, transparency, accountability, ethics, innovation, and adaptability.
  • To strengthen intellectual and professional growth by organizing workshops, seminars, FDPs, technical talks, and research-oriented training programmes.
  • To facilitate the overall enhancement of research productivity and scholarly contributions within the academic community.

The department is enriched with highly qualified and experienced faculty members, including Seven doctoral degree holders specializing in multidisciplinary areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The faculty members actively guide and mentor research scholars pursuing Ph.D. programmes in various specialized domains. Currently, nearly twelve research scholars are carrying out their doctoral research under the guidance of the department faculty.

The department is equipped with well-established research laboratories, advanced computing facilities, modern instrumentation, simulation software tools, and internet-enabled resources to support innovative research and experimentation. These facilities enable faculty members and scholars to undertake quality research, develop prototypes, publish scholarly work, and contribute effectively to technological advancement and knowledge creation.
